Scheme Details

The National Roads Authority (NRA) in conjunction with Cork County Council and Cork City Council are preparing proposals for the improvement and upgrade of the existing Dunkettle Interchange in Cork. The existing interchange forms the junction of the N8, the N25 and the Jack Lynch Tunnel and suffers from significant congestion leading to long delays and queuing.

The current interchange arrangement has free flow for the traffic going in an east - west direction but forces north - south traffic and turning traffic to use a traffic signal controlled roundabout. It is proposed to upgrade the interchange to achieve free flow for key movements and to include measures to remove locally generated traffic from the interchange.

Jacobs Engineering Ireland Ltd (Jacobs) has been appointed by the NRA to provide engineering and environmental consultancy services in relation to these proposed improvement and upgrade works.
